Hi Dan,
Great info, as usual. This is fun to do if you like to write articles, and I agree that the sales is inspiration to write more articles. :) I've never had 2 sales with so few visitors or articles though. Good for you.

Kent F - As far as linking to an affiliate link, here's what you do:
Get a new domain name on the cheap and just redirect it to the affiliate sales page. Not hard to do and you've made Ezine Articles happy by complying with their TOS.

Love your blog, Dan.
Not going to touch the porn comments... I'll leave that to Randy.

Hi Dan
I'm very much a novice in the internet marketing game but have found some success with a similar strategy to your article idea.
I subscribe to as many relevant blogs as possible (like this one for example) then when I receive an email advising the blog has been updated I post a comment (ASAP, so it is at the top of the list....I was a bit late on this one!)
The comment includes an update about my own project and a link to my blog.
For example last night I posted a comment on a Terry Gibbs' blog article about creating information products, I mentioned my own series of tutorial videos aimed at teaching the beginner to do just that and the address of my blog www.stuart-turnbull.com where they will be posted for FREE!
This morning when I opened my inbox I had six new subscribers to my blog!
Not enough to retire on, I agree, but I have built up a nice little list over the last few weeks using this strategy.
Keep the great ideas coming
Cheers

Hi Don,
The site is just a one page site with good content and a simple layout. I do plan to release the guide at some point this year....but I'm afraid I won't be pricing it at $7 :-)

I enjoyed the article ,but was left wondering exactly what you did. What was your site like? Just one page? What keywords did you target? etc

Here's an idea for you. Do a $7 report on exactly how to set up what you did wth illustrations and so forth.

A problem most of us have is not knowing exactly How to do something. We get told what to do but rarely how to do it.

Here's the link to EzineArticles Submission guidlines page:

http://www.ezinearticles.com/editorial-guidelines.html

FYI: Here's a few rules I copied out of there:

* We do not allow HTML tags of any kind in your TITLE

* We do not allow your AUTHOR NAME or any WEBSITE URL to be in your TITLE

* If you sell hard in the ARTICLE BODY by including your URL or product pitch or blatant self-promotion, we will toss your article without notice. The RESOURCE BOX is where you get to pitch yourself or your website address.

* WEBSITE LINKS/URLS There is a total limit of (4) active or inactive links allowed in the article, which consists of both the BODY and the RESOURCE BOX.

* Maximum of (2) "Self-Serving" active or inactive links/URLs to a website that you own, control, or have an interest in.

* We do not accept articles with active or inactive links in the first 1-3 paragraphs. Please put your active links in the resource box below the article body. The article BODY is your "GIVE" and the RESOURCE BOX is your "TAKE."

* If you put both of the active self serving links that we allow in the body of your article, we will reject it.

Hope that helps get you started.

Hi Kent,
As far as I know you are fine to link to a sales page, you just can't use a direct affiliate link to someone elses item.

I'm not 100% sure on that though so someone chip in if you know any more!

Hi Dan - Thanks for the motivating article. It's my understanding E-zine articles does not allow a direct link to a sales page? I'm sure you use some nifty feature that we dim-wits don't know about.

Great post, Dan. It should inspire those who were hesitant about writing articles to take some action. It really does work, as your experience just proved.

BTW...are you old enough to date a porn * ?
