Ah well, true to form we never got it together and STILL can't hit the back of the net from the spot! Talking to a lady in the Co on Saturday evening and she said it would be nice if Rooney grew up and learned to keep his hands in his pockets............ I say take him outside and give him a good slapping. That's what I'd have got if I'd have acted that way. Gamesmanship... is it just an English thing?

So we now need two orders from the florists........ one for the vase in F.A.H.Q. and one for Ronaldo............

Sad news about Fiery Fred! He may have been a graduate of the Bernard Manning Charm School but he was damn good! I love watching him in those old black and white matches, even on those he makes Swervin' Mervyn Hughes from Oz look like a big hairy teddy bear in comparison. I wouldn't like to have stood in front of Fred with just a piece of willow between me and mutilation by a cricket ball. Was it he who had to wait through lunch to bowl the third ball to take a hat-trick against the Auzzies in an ashes test? Now that takes balls .............. of both kinds.

Oh and Dan, never said you weren't patriotic mate, I could hear the chorus of Football's Coming Home in Huddersfield..................

Keep up the good work and I'll catch up with you when you're luck runs out.

Best wishes as always

Fred Trueman lived literally 5 minutes away from me, you always used to see him driving around. A shame to lose him thats for sure.

I think Ronaldo will go to Madrid, I can`t see fickle football fans forgiving him for "getting Rooney sent off"

I don`t blame him in the slightest, it was Rooney that did the stamping and the pushing not Ronaldo and he deserved to be sent off.

I think it`s the usual English mentality coming into play again....Lose something because they weren`t good enough and then try to pass the blame onto somebody esle!

Hi Dan. Has Ronaldo got the "guts" to go back to United and face Rooney and his other Team Mates after his little "Mind playing games"
he did yesterday? I know he has to because of his contract - but - he'll probably have a "minder" with him - anyway it's over now so back to the Cricket -
By the way - England and Yorkshire fast bowling great Fred Trueman has died at the age of 75 after a short battle with cancer.

Too bad - he was one of the best.

All the best Dan, John.

DANIEL! I know we live in a free country and therefore can say what we like (unless it's in the pub about midnight and you happen to mention what you'd like to do with your best friend's new boyfriend............ ) but to slag off the best England team since the last one (Euro 2002 wasn't it?) is taking free speech too far!

Yes Mr B ain't as fast as he used to be and yes they have to take turns in the showers 'cause there ain't enough room for more than two players and their egos in there, but come on. The Italians have only just scraped through as have the Germans, the Spanish, Portugal didn't start until the third game and the French were pretty damn close to having an early bath as well. So as per usual no-one wants to do more than they have to to qualify for the next round.

We did enough to get what I think is the easiest draw in the quarters, which doesn't mean to say we won't end up with egg on our faces....... again, but we all know that's when the competition proper begins. It's great to see sides like Trinidad and Tobago, Togo, Samoa and all these so called minnows competeing in the first round. The players from these countries will have stories to tell their grandkids and their doing well highlights the game and brings in much needed cash.

But let's face it, Nigeria or Cameroon ain' gonna lift that cup! Maybe in a few tournement's time they'll be contenders, but not yet. So we get back to the Big Boys. I have to say Argentina have got to be the best I've seen yet in this tournement by a country mile! No-one else is even in the same town let alone the same street. But like I said, come the weekend when the serious stuff starts and those left wake up, we may see some fireworks.

And that applies to England as well. We all know there are no second chances now. It's either s or b and you never know, that place they've reserved for the cup in F.A. H.Q. might just get filled............ but I think they should order a nice vase and some fresh flowers for 10th July as they'll be more likely to be filling the space..................

GOOD LUCK GUYS! PROVE ME WRONG AND CANCEL THE ORDER AT THE FLORISTS!

Been nice to watch the birth of the site and it's subsequent rise and rise. My best wishes for it's future and I intend to be here for the long haul so if there's every anything I can do to help, just yell. I might not be able to but I may know a man who can..............

Oh yeah, sorry about the Sunday name Dan but you did ask for comments Look forward to the next newsletter.
All the best pal.
